In a candid interview on The Today Show, Dina Lohan admitted to Matt Lauer (and the world) on Monday that her daughter, Lindsay Lohan is an addict. Ummm, how long has she been in rehab and you are just realizing this??? Lindsay has been out of the limelight for months and is currently being treated at the Betty Ford Center in California. “She’s just a different person,” explained Dina. “She’s been in a couple facilities, but this one to me has really changed her.” Go Lindsay!
In the past, Dina always defended her daughter’s errrr, issues. During a previous visit to the Today show, Dina put the blame on the judge ruling in her case. Essentially, Dina had a hard time admitting her daughter has a substance abuse problem publicly. She said, “That was for Lindsay to admit. As a mother it wasn’t for me to come to tell the world … about her problem.” “That was for her to do,” Dina said. “I wasn’t in denial.”
I just don’t see how this was a secret… We all knew! In a surprising twist of events- Dina has also changed her opinion about her ‘relationship’ with her father, Michael Lohan and explained that she encourages whatever is best for Lindsay– including a reunion. The exes suffered a nasty divorce, and have been taking swings at each other in the media for years. For the sake of their child, they learned it was time to fold the cards and move on.
Lindsay and Michael ended up reuniting yesterday at the rehabilitation facility after seven months of estrangement. The pair met around 1:00 pm and reportedly spent several hours together. Lindsay and her father also engaged in some retail therapy at a Palm Desert mall. The two were sited strolling around the shops together and visited a jewelry store. When Michael Lohan left Betty Ford he commented on the days events: “I have pledged not to comment about anything relating to my daughter. However, what I will say is that I am an incredibly proud father tonight. My daughter is progressing extraordinarily well.” Awwwww- We were kind of expecting you to revert to douche-like behavior! It looks like the whole family is learning to get along and not engage in harmful behavior which is excellent news (or at least boring news…)
Dina wisely elaborates, explaining, “Addiction is difficult. I don’t know. I don’t have a crystal ball. I pray hard … We can only be positive and look to the future to help other families.” Lindsay is slated to be released from the Betty Ford Center on January 3. Dina is optimistic, yet she maintains caution. It was also reported that Lindsay received visits from friends, including ex-girlfriend Samantha Ronson. Get Well Lindsay! We miss you!!!!
